At 5 a.m. the temperature was reported to be –2°F in Nashville, Tennessee, and 60°F in Naples, Florida.
How many degrees warmer was it in Naples than in Nashville that morning? To find the difference between the two temperatures, find the absolute value of each and add them together.

axie:
60+2=??
yomomalikebracobama:
62
maxlord:
oh i thought it was subtracting 62
axie:
No, the absolute value removes the negative from the two, when you put |x| meaning that x is a number, its only the number that matters, anything attached to it is removed. Example:|-34|=34
