Mythical thinking is kinda like let's say religion. None of it can be proven and most of the time doesn't make much sense. It's usually used to explain how something works or is made. Explaining phenomena and whatnot. 
Scientific thinking however has the slightest proof behind it, even if it's a theory. A lot of scientific thinking is usually to explain how something works, much like mythical thinking, except a lot of scientific theories can be proven.
