It is simple to distinguish the various components and portions in a heterogeneous mixture. For example, fruit-flavored cereal or trail mix made with peanuts, raisins, and sweets. The components of the combination are clearly visible. A homogeneous mixture is one in which the parts are difficult to distinguish, such as ketchup or the air we breathe.
