explicit formula for sequences: an = a1 + (n-1)d where a1 is the first term in the sequence, n is the # of terms, d is the common difference between terms take a look at the problem, determine what your a1 and d would be, plug them into the formula. in this case, you don't have to change the (n-1) part since you just want a genreal formula that applies for any n term.
