Well age regression is a coping mechnisme used by people of all ages to help deal with a traumatic experiance. When one age regresses,, they revert into an age in their mind space in which they we're happier,,say before this traumatic thing ever happened to them. There is no age limit on it and any person is free to use it as a coping mecanism.

And as for the mental age of those who regress,,depending on what it is sometimes age regressors need a 'Care taker', or somebody to look after them while they are in little space.
