`1.` Last week, the price of oranges at the grocery store was $1.60 per pound. This week, the price has decreased by 20%. What is the price of oranges this week? First thing's first: You would multiply last weeks `1.60` price with your percentage as a decimal `0.20` `1.60*0.20=0.32`, and then you'll need to subtract the multiplied answer `0.32` from your price from last week, `1.60`, so it looks like `1.60-0.32` which equals `1.28`. So if your discounted apples for this week is `1.28` we still need to find the total price for 4½ pounds still. In order to do that, we would have to multiply `1.28` by `4.5`, leaving your final cost at `5.76` meaning 4½ of oranges will be $5.76.
