Three products that have become popular in my lifetime are new Iphones, tissue, and hand sanitizer. I say this because there was a time when tissue and hand sanitizer ran out in all stores becuse people were stocking up on them. The new Iphone's were well marketed and the tissue and hand sanitizer were also well marketed.

1. Tide pods
In 2012 a cleaning business released a product they were sure would help them grow, Tide pods. Tide pods were meant to make laundry easier to do. Unfortunately shortly after releasing them the poison control calls started coming in. Small children were becoming confused. Tide pods look like candy they thought! They are brightly colored and look to be a bite sized snack. But be warned before you put this in your mouth ITS HIGHLY POISONIOUS! Later in the year a youtube video was released of a grown man eating one of these, and in December 2017 it became a trend. On twitter one of the biggest meme accounts posted about this joke. Eventually the joke bled over to youtube and a small youtuber decided to gain followers by actually eating them. Many youtubers began joining this trend but little did they know that kids and teenagers were their main audience. When a child sees their role model do something then of course they want to do it too! Instead of doing this trend try making realistic looking cookies in the design of a tide pod! way more safe.
2. Fidget spinners
Fidget spinners were patented in 1993 by a young woman named Catherine Hettinger. By 1997 the patent was finally approved but back then it looked way different then it does now. In 2013 the patent was finally expired making way for various other inventors to give this new fad a new design. In 2015 the Torqbar was patented was released to the public. Many different designers decided to give this their own twist. These knockoffs were referred to as fidget spinners. In 2017 these new toys became the newest trend, proving to help with attention problem and anxiety. The year after this even DIsney jumped on board to make a snowflake fidget spinner with elsa on it! The year after that glow lights were added to these fidgets making them more attractive to consumer eye than ever. As annoying they can be when they aren't oiled correctly this trend hit big.
3. Amoung Us
This popular game became a trend rather quickly. In 2018 this game was released to Iphone and Android users but made its debut in 2020. Everyone locked inside their houses with nothing to do was the perfect time for twitch to start streaming people playing this game. This game quickly drew in millions of online players which led to thousands of very cringey memes. This game supports cross platform playing which means you can play it with friends even if they aren't on the same device. The game became big rather quickly because of its theme. Essentially in the game one person is a murderer and has to murder other players and not get caught. This person is called the imposter, and the others, crewmates. Crewmates play small games in order to complete tasks, which if they complete, they can be saved. The imposter however can make this difficult by not only killing other players but making more tasks to do. Currently this game is very popular among children but when it was originally released it was a huge hit for teens.

In conclusion these are three products that I have seen become popular.
