Definitions of “class,” “gender,” and “race”

Race, gender and class shape the experience of all people. New studies interpret race, gender, class as interlocking categories of experience that affect all aspects of life; thus they simultaneously structure the experiences of all people in society.

Class: large scale grouping of people who share common economic resources. It has a very popular influence on where we live, who we are, who we marry, etc.

Gender: psychological, social, and cultural differences between males and females; this is a social construct and is not limited by what you physically are.
