MidniteSunny:

o well can u think of any characters from anything u hav ever watched that could represent 4 different causes of the civil war ? remember they cannot b in a movie/show about the civil war

MidniteSunny:

a gud starting place would b identifying four different causes for the civil war

MidniteSunny:

and then proceeding to think of different characters that might fit into the four

Civil War. What about any other movies? There are few that are most popular; such as he Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Gone with the Wind, & Gettysburg to name a few.
the grading criteria strictly says it cannot be a civil war movie.

Just noticed, read it wrong. My bad.
it is fine, i thank you for trying to help.

MidniteSunny:

hav u found the four causes yet ?

dukedadon:

yes i have.

umm:

FYI: deleted my responses that are incorrect.

MidniteSunny:

o gud ! oki so now that u know the four causes (which ones did u choose btw ?) u can start thinking of movies and tv shows, doesnt matter which ones, just matters the characters that might show similarity with the causes

i chose economic interests, cultural values, the power of the federal government to control the states, and, most importantly, slavery in American society.

MidniteSunny:

alright, let's see, can u think of any character that could represent cultural values ?

dukedadon:

Hmm. that is a great question,

MidniteSunny:

like if a character in one episode had some lesson on their culture, like it how to b proud and not ashamed of it, which is a common one recently i think

dukedadon:

i would say superman or dwayne johnson, they both value they're culture and belief in the human species.

MidniteSunny:

oki can u name a show/movie where they show that

dukedadon:

um. this assignment is harder then i thought

MidniteSunny:

yeh it's like a project, when is this due ?

dukedadon:

tomorrow at 6:30 (:

dukedadon:

it is not a major assignment, its minor meaning its only %1 of my grade for the semester.

MidniteSunny:

woah woah oki shoot, well, bacc to the question if u can name the show/movie where the rock or superman shows cultural value, or any other character u can think of

dukedadon:

okie okie okie.

MidniteSunny:

a different way to approach this is to list every show or movie you can think of and then from there evaluate if theres any characters from those that could work

dukedadon:

maybe i can choose another superhero lol

MidniteSunny:

yeh go for it

dukedadon:

i can use captain america

dukedadon:

Captain America was created by Jewish American comic book writers as a response to the rise of Nazism in Europe. They created this character to respond to the threat of Hitler and the rise of anti-Semitism before the rest of America was ready. The first iconic Captain America cover comes out 9 months before the US enters the war - 9 months before Pearl Harbour - and it shows Captain America whose costume is literally the American flag, punching Hitler in the jaw. maybe this is our starter?

MidniteSunny:

i mean, name the movie/show, and how he relates to either economic interest, cultural value, the power of the fed gov to control states and slavery

MidniteSunny:

if he fits any of those then bingo, u got it

dukedadon:

Frustrated at the moment.

MidniteSunny:

aw that's oki, dis assignment is tough and requires quite a bit of thinking and ur trying ur best, you'll get it !

dukedadon:

Thank you, i really needed that. Ok so, Superman is an all powerful being that does the same. Superman isn't the type of role model we can emulate. He represents the values American culture holds dear: honesty, power, goodness, self-sacrifice, and individualism. He inspires us, but his other-worldliness keeps us from fully identifying with him. He show's this in the avengers movie when he arrests loki and says this phrase "You may believe in technology, but i believe in the people."

MidniteSunny:

i think that sounds rlly gud, though the part where we cannot emulate not sure about cuz ik he's not human but the point is his values, not wut he is, right ?

dukedadon:

exactly so you think i should take that out?

MidniteSunny:

personally yeh, choice is ur's tho ^^

MidniteSunny:

"He inspires us, but his other-worldliness keeps us from fully identifying with him." maybe change to "Even though his other-worldliness might keep us from fully identifying with him, he's an inspiration." yeh ? in any case gj with the first one ^^

dukedadon:

ok ok ok , that one is way better then mine, thank you.

MidniteSunny:

ofc ! oki so u got everything down for superman, yesh ?

dukedadon:

umm yes, but there is another part

MidniteSunny:

another part to the cultural values one ?

MidniteSunny:

Right so it would b like Name: Superman (Kal-El/ Clark Joseph Kent) Name of Show/Movie: DC Extended Universe series Image: *insert image here* Description: Cultural value, *insert wut u wrote about him here*

dukedadon:

ok give me about 3 minutes to write it down.

MidniteSunny:

dukedadon:
