ik I mean like tips, such as light source maybe? learning how the shadow is relative to the light source

Best advice I can give you is using HB pencil set or charcoal pencil set. Always think of the direction of the light you'd want to display, and shade the area that would get the least light. Always use a napkin or paper under your hand while doing so so that way it doesn't smudge.
