Question

Hey everyone, so I'm beginning to write a book that will be the first of a series. It's going to be a superhero/romance/sci-fi mix. Anyway, the main characters will be a guy who has enhanced strength, senses, self-healing, and the ability to teleport. The teleportation method will be able to warp space, causing a rift in the space-time contiuum and allowing him to travel anywhere. He's main drawbacks will be that he can only teleport to places in his line of sight (that will only be a minor drawback as he will learn to overcome this), and his stamina, as it will drain him mentally because it will take concentration to teleport.

The second main character will be his love interest, named Kayla. I want to make her character a mix of Allison Argent and Gwen Stacy (just Google them if you don't know who those characters are).

And finally, I'd want the girlfriend's father to be a hunter of superhumans that captures and executes them. He'll essentially be a mix of Chris Argent and the Punisher (again Google if you have no idea what I'm talking about XD).

So, my main questions are, what are some weaknesses that would be appropriate for a teleporter? Something that hunters could use against them or would be just a weakness in general. Any other recommendations for the series will be welcome as well.

I would say some good drawbacks for someone that could teleport is like migraines, for the first time, and every time they teleport in a certain amount of time it strains on the body and you can pretty much build from that point, and I would say a good withdrawal for the main character is a love interest that runs into the hunters and had some complications and has to give up where the main character is, or I could end like the first Twilight where she/he got put in a hostage situation which draws the main character in and it allows for some more story building upon that.

Hmn well there r a few questions. Are the superhumans born with their powers, did they randomly get them one day, or did sumthin happen to em dat allowed em to get their powers ? If they were born with it, den age very well plays into how well they can control it, yk ? Like when they're young they are just learning ze ropes of it and control and hone it as they age, which begs the question, how old is the superhuman guy ?
Anyways, there can b several weaknesses for teleporters me thinks. Question tho, will the weaknesses b ze same for all teleporters or every user is different ? Some weaknesses could include:
1) maybe like the user feels more nauseous the farther away they teleport from their starting position, like it's a side effect yk ?
2) other side effects would be disorientation or general weakness
3) there can b other powers dat can specifically go against teleportation like sum1 can have teleportation negation/ immunity, teleportation diversion, teleportation prediction, etc
4) Maybe there can b sumthin dat can jam the power, like a certain element er sumthin idk
5) Say the teleporter was falling or was thrown and they teleported away bcuz of dat, they could perhaps maintain dat momentum
6) the time it takes to teleport could vary
7) there could be like a thing where it's easy to self-teleport, but it takes a lotta time and skill to teleport sum1/sumthing else maybe like dat can also depend on ze weight/height of wutever it is

All these are great ideas! Having the the love interest get put in a hostage situation was a good idea UGKRza. And I think the idea where the teleporter gets migraines or get drained from the strain of the teleportation is a cool idea. The teleporters also will have the ability to carry the kinetic energy/momentum when they teleport which will lead to various complications but also powerful attacks. Having a certain time limit for said teleportation was a good idea as well MidniteSunny. I'm not quite sure how the superhumans will come about yet. I'm think genetic experimentation from a malevolent multibillion dollar company. But yeah, these are some awesome ideas. Thank you both for all the ideas and suggestions!

are you sure you're even writing a BOOK, books are usually from around 200-300 pages and it just isn't clicking to me, and I mean it's a good idea, it sounds closely related to an anime or manga, I just get the feeling this is either gonna be a short story or not get far at all
