How to; Constant Rate Of Change


If this is a constant rate of change;
Key Term-Proportion is a statement that two rates or ratios are equivalent, for example- 6 miles/2 hours = 3 miles/1 hour
Rate of change- A rate that described how one quantity changes in relation to another quantity.
Proportional Relationship- A relationship where the rate of change is constant, or one in which the ratio of one quantity to the other is constant.
Constant- A quantity that does not change, it stays the same.
Constand of proportionality (K or M) (slop) - A relationship between and y that represents the constant rate of change, or constant ratio between x and y.
K=y/x
Calculating constant rates of change
Step 1; determining the rates
Step 2; Divide the rare
Step 3; Compare
Example: A giant tortoise moves at a slow but steady pace, It takes the giant tortoise 3 seconds to travel 10.5 inches.
