Explain how the climate in a specific region differs during El Niño and La Niña.

El Niño is in the southern tier of Alaska but tends to be warmer than average, whereas the southern tier of the states California to Carolina tends to be cooler and wetter than average. During La Niña the deviations from the overall average are approximately reversed but not exactly all the way.
