The map shows the location of the airport and a warehouse in a city. Though not displayed on the map, there is also a factory 104 miles due north of the warehouse.
A truck traveled from the warehouse to the airport and then to the factory. What is the total number of miles the truck traveled? 130 169 201 208
@extrinix
So the factory is located directly above the warehouse and right of the airport. Now, it asks how far the airport is to the factory, which is your \(b\) part of \(a^2+b^2=c^2\) From this, we need to find the rise over run of the line, which is what?
i think its 130
That would be incorrect, look closer, if the factory is \(104\) miles north of the warehouse, that lands it directly East of the airport and directly north of the warehouse. So what do you think the length is now? (look at the point at which the airport is at, \(39\), and add it to meet up at the same point the factory is, \((39,52)\))
i still dont get it im confused
The factory is north of the warehouse and east of the airport at the point \((39,52)\)
that equal to 104
Wait is it 208?
Nope
then i really dk what it is
It's lower than that, look at the picture I'm about to post
169?
its 201
Look at it closer The point of the Airport is 39 miles from the 0 on the x axis, and then to get to the factory it's 39 more miles, even with the warehouse That gives you \(39+39\) So what would \(39+39\) equal?
78
the answer was 208 i got it wrong
