You have to help them, you cannot just say that. Explain it to them yourself...

Rylee88:

Is this "Sales Tax" which is some sort of math equation?

ILikeToEatChildren:

yes

online math hw assignment

ILikeToEatChildren:

we are really working with percents, this is just like a "real world" problem

Rylee88:

Okay so we have to do, / = Divided *=times 4.25 / 100 = .0425 * 32000 = 1360 + 32000 = 33360 So, I belive 33360 is you're answer, how? B= Big number S= Small number /= Divide * = times P= Original price S/100 = (Decimal) * P = ___ + P = ____ P could also most likely be the Bigger number.

ILikeToEatChildren:

wouldn't it be a smaller answer tho? the question is lacking how much she earns each month for 6 years..

ILikeToEatChildren:

asking** not lacking sry

ILikeToEatChildren:

not earns either, i meant pays for each month

Rylee88:

RIGHT! Sorry, I didn't round! So, 33,360 Rounds by the tens place which is 6 so 5 and up makes hundreds go up. 4 and below makes it go down, So 33,460. I don't THINK it would be lower because it shows 32,000 which is the original price I'm pretty sure 6 doesn't matter BUT we can try this equation with 6. 6/100=0.06+4.25=0.255*4.25=1.08375 and we need to make it lower so we times * it by 100 again and get 108.375 So we round to the nearest cents, so it's 5 and up so I think you're answer is 108,385.

ILikeToEatChildren:

but there is 72 months in 6 years, wouldn't we need to do something with that since the question is asking how much she pays each month?

Rylee88:

All you do with the Sales Tax equation is the ones with the equation, you might be thinking to far.

Rylee88:

If those numbers are not in you're equation it won't matter.

ILikeToEatChildren:

those numbers are in the equation tho, that is the thing

Rylee88:

They are not in the LITTERAL equation, figure it out anyway you want but I showed I sloved.
