Why is the economy so messed up?

There are a lot of reasons. You can Google them if you'd like. One reason is because due to inflation (the act of the government printing more and more money), the value of the dollar keeps going down. Take gold for an example. It's rare, has lots of value, and can't be produced at the government's whim. The dollar, on the other hand, keeps getting printed at a high rate, it loses it's value because there is such an abundance of it, meaning that prices go up to compensate.

I would say many reasons for this, scarcity of products and goods, tricks made by corporate companies to gain money, continuous creation of money circulating through the system, etc. Now I would say our economy isn’t completely messed up, it has its security measures in place, e.g. banks being able to check for fraudulent payments and transfers and shutting off those before they are made

I would say our economy is messed up based on one part, the electronic sector of it, the majority of our net worth and “money” holdings is online, completely away from being actual currency, which with that, comes danger, of course we all know about scams and such to gain private information that allows access to these. Even though banks have a good security system, humans can’t help but sometimes be tempted into a good scam, buying virtual or even physical goods for that matter. Card swipers and information scanners can often tend to be meddled with and cause significant damage to those who use it

The first thing that pops into my head when I hear that question is OIL. Any oil-rich country is either going to become super-rich fast or be taken advantage of by a foreign company/government or the like. An irresponsible country would sell the oil in desperation to get out of third-world status, causing inflation to skyrocket. There are tons of ways an economy can go to the dumpster because of oil that I haven't even touched on, but it happens ALOT.
