Jeimmy:

If a water wave has a wavelength of 1.0 m and a frequency of 2.0Hz (Hertz), how long will the wave take to travel 20. m from a boat to the shore?

YRJ8498:

wave speed=frequency( hertz)×wavelength( metre)

Jeimmy:

Yeah I calculated it. Thx

YRJ8498:

then whats the annswer u got?

YRJ8498:

wave speed= 2⋅1=2ms^−1

YRJ8498:

Time taken to travel 20m.

YRJ8498:

time=Distance/Speed

Jeimmy:

I got 10s as an answer.

YRJ8498:

\[t=\frac{ 20m }{ 2\frac{ m }{ s } }\]

YRJ8498:

so, T= 10s It takes 10 seconds to travel 20 metres.
