what method of shading do you prefer? working on a piece to show glowing, would a blending tool to create a silhouette around said object work?

Yes, I believe a blending tool is helpful when it comes to shadowy art such as silhouettes.

I'm an artist and if you're a really good.. I mean really good artist then both would work but for me i just shade around the edges.

shading or blending would look good around the edges it look awesome when i do it
i do dragons, voodo dolls, swords...
