javantay:

Which of the following is an equation of the line that passes through the point (950, 1,250) and has a slope of –10?

carmelle:

The slope-intercept form is: y = mx + b Where... y is the y-coordinate m is the slope x is the x-coordinate b is the y-intercept We already know the following... y is 1,250 m is -10 x is 950 Remember, b is not given!! Now, we plug in the values you already know and solve for b. \[ y = mx + b\] \[ 1250 = -10(950) + b\] \[1250=-9500 + b\] \[10750=b\] Now we can plug in the slope and the y-intercept and we are left with the final answer of: \[y=-10x+10750\]
