In first world countries, tap water is generally safe to drink because it’s been filtered for impurities, toxins, infectious agents, etc. of course, there are certain areas where the tap water isn’t clean, or certain environmental situations that can cause tap water to be contaminated, but generally tap water is safe to drink.
