this is a very serious question for my essay give me an explanation or i will cut off ur power and sneak in ur house at midnight

TheWraith2021:

Of course not. Power corrupts. If society's freedom was to be taken away, the government would abuse their power and it could lead to a dictatorship under the government/president. As a result, only a fool would consider giving away their freedom.

Individual freedoms are something people take very seriously. I think it is important not to be infringe on these. However, if it's a life or death situation and national security is threatened, individual freedoms are going to need to be sacrificed. When we agreed to this form of government, we agreed to give up some of our powers to the government so they can regulate us. I feel as though sacrificing individual freedoms in a worst case scenario for the greater good of the country is absolutely necessary.

Of course, if there is a holistic solution to the threat, it’s better to not jeopardize the rights of the people. However, if there is no clear solution that’s beneficial to both parties, it might absolutely be necessary to contravene the rights of the citizens. For example, mask mandates(COVID-19). While COVID-19 isn’t necessarily a national security crisis, it can be a good example. COVID-19 is amorphous and notorious, which is why mask mandates were in place. Otherwise, there were no mask mandates.
