I really wanted to write about this, let me know if it's alright :) (TW: it's literally about self harm so if you get upset about that then please don´t read, writing put below)

urmomspet:

Why do people self harm? Maybe they’re weak. Maybe they’re stronger than everyone else. Maybe they don’t need a reason. People self harm to feel something. People self harm because they want to feel pain, they want to hurt, they want to punish themselves. People self harm to write their pain on their bodies. Have you ever looked at someone, seen their scars and thought “Damn, they’re emo” or “why would they do that?”. They don't owe you an explanation. You don’t need to know their reason. You don’t need to know why. All you need to know is that they’re hurting and they need someone to tell them “I love you” “I need you” “I care for you” “I’m here for you”. They need someone who will hug them when they're sad. They need someone who won’t judge them. They need someone who tells them how special they are. Because they are special. They could be the most important person in someone's life. And maybe they’re too busy taking care of other people to take care of themselves. Maybe they refuse to let themselves feel something to make other people happy. They blame themselves when something goes wrong. They feel responsible. It’s your job, as someone they trust, to let them know it's not their fault. Because it’s not. The whole world could go crashing down and it wouldn’t be their fault. But that's how they'd feel because that’s the way their brain works. And it's normal to feel like that. Everyone feels like that sometimes. But everyone shows it differently. Some people laugh it off. Some people ignore it. Some people talk about it. Some people take it out on others. Some people take it out on themselves. Some people do nothing at all. The worst is when they finally try to open up and no one listens. They’ve spent days, weeks, months working up the courage to tell people what's bothering them, trying to do something to keep themselves from harming, then when they say something, people are like “Damn, sucks” or they vent to you before you have a chance to vent to them, or they change the subject. When that happens, you’ve just made the situation worse. When someone you know or think is suicidal or harming and they come to you, asking if they can talk, remember that they chose you and they chose talking instead of harming. So if they come to you, make sure they know you’re listening and that you’re there for them. If you ever get thoughts about self harming, you should talk to someone that you trust and let them know how you’re feeling. Don’t feel ashamed about your feelings, everyone has them. You just have to find a healthy way of expressing them :)

This is really good and true. This is something lots of people need to hear. I applaud you for this, I think this is really well written. Great job! Nice grammar, beautiful description, and emotion all rolled into one.
