question related to astronomy: how is a star formed? how many known galaxies are there? how are they named? how do black holes form?

MochaBerries:

if these are hella obvious ima sound real stupid

MochaBerries:

@563blackghost ?

Timmyspu:

Hmm. I am not sure but a good person to look at this would be @tranquility he could answer your question.

oh- okii

hunter3506:

Stars form from an accumulation of gas and dust, which collapses due to gravity and starts to form stars. The process of star formation takes around a million years from the time the initial gas cloud starts to collapse until the star is created and shines like the Sun.

hunter3506:

How do black holes form? A black hole can be formed by the death of a massive star. When such a star has exhausted the internal thermonuclear fuels in its core at the end of its life, the core becomes unstable and gravitationally collapses inward upon itself, and the star's outer layers are blown away.

hunter3506:

did that help any?

Would like to the note that as far as we know there are billions upon billions of galaxies in our KNOWN OBSERVABLE universe, as far as we know it extends much farther. The answers to the formation of stars and blackholes are correct.
