Noticed a bunch of people on here have a thing for writing. Figured, what the heck? I'll try my hand at it.


"The Wraith"

I walk alone. It is both a choice and an inescapable destiny. A blessing and a curse. A code of conduct for the way I live.

Pain and sacrifice are a necessary part of life. Pain is necessary to build tolerance, to recognize the pain in others, and if necessary, share pain with those who deserve it. Sacrifice is just as important. To sacrifice for loved ones and the greater good is one of the most honorable things one can do.

I am the one with the acumen to see injustice and corruption, to even somewhat pierce the dark veil of the future and make predictions. To look past the façade people put on and look into the depths of their soul, finding and analyzing every weakness.

When someone steps out of line, I'm the one who puts them back in their place. They cannot hide from me; if they try to hide behind their friends, I will systematically tear down each and every defense of theirs to achieve justice; if they hide in the abyss of deception and darkness, it matters not, for I am the Spectre of Shadows.

To bring about real change, one must be willing to do what is considered ugly. To shake people of their apathetic lethargy, dramatic and compelling examples must be used.

But I'm more than just an avenger, a hunter who stalks the unjust, the willfully ignorant, and the malevolent. I'm a protector. A Silent Watcher, willing to help those who should need it. But just who am I?

Depends on who you ask.

To my enemies, the Snarky Smart@$$ extraordinaire, I'm The Hand of Vengeance, their Intellectual Superior, The Ghost King, the Emperor of Efficiency, and The Phantom of Punishment.

To the general public, I'm a charming rebel, a quiet enigma, and a somewhat mythic individual shrouded in mystique. To my friends, I'm simply loyal, intelligent, an advisor, a confidant, and a guardian. Someone who will be there for them with a barely perceptible presence and a spectral whisper of comfort from the ethereal abyss.

But what it comes down to is this: I'm not a hero; I'm not a villain; I'm The Wraith, the One and Only, and there is no other. I exist and yet I don't; I walk alone and I love the thrill of the fight. I'm a paradoxical enigma you can't solve phantom protector you never expected.
