let's let s = the number of student tickets, c = the number of children's tickets, and a = the number of adult tickets seating capacity of 217 --> a + c + s = 217 the theater charges $5.00 for children, $7.00 for students, and $12.00 for adults, and the total revenue is $1568, so 5c + 7s + 12a = 1568 there are half as many adults as children --> a = (1/2)c can you try solving the system now? to start off with, I would use elimination to eliminate s from the first two equations, so you'd be left with a and c. then I'd use a = (1/2)c to replace all a-values with c, and solve for c.
thanks
