polywog:

how do i find the features of a parabola? im only confused about the axis of symmetry, vertex, and the increasing/decreasing

THEKINGOFTHEMATRIX:

Yeah, it's a tough one for sure.

WickedHeart:

@polywog What would you guess the answer to be?

surjithayer:

\[y=a(x-h)^2+k\] if a>0 it is an upward parabola with vertex (h,k) and axis of symmetry is x-h=0 or x=h if a<0 it is a downward parabola with vertex (h,k) and axis of symmetry is x-h=0 or x=h \[x=a(y-k)^2+h\] if a>0 it is a right open parabola with vertex (h,k) and axis of symmetry is y-k=0 or y=k if a<0 it is a left open parabola with vertex (h,k) and axis of symmetry is y-k=0 or y=k
