Angelina’s family owns a mini-golf course. When discussing the business with a customer, she explains there is a relationship between the number of visitors and hole-in-one winners. If x is the number of visitors and y is the number of winners, which conclusion is correct? The ordered pair (–3, 7) is viable. The ordered pair (0, 4) is viable. The ordered pair (7, 0) is non-viable. The ordered pair (12, 3) is viable.

Vocaloid:

Thoughts? If x = the number of visitors and y = the # of winners, then x and y must be positive whole numbers to be viable. Also, y cannot be greater than x (how can there be more winners than total visitors?) With that in mind, what do you think?

ananazzaa:

well i took out the first choice

ananazzaa:

and the third

Vocaloid:

Good so far, any thoughts between choices 2 or 4?

ananazzaa:

dont think it would be the 2 because of the 0

ananazzaa:

not sure tho because thats technically not a negative number

ananazzaa:

wait

ananazzaa:

x in the number of visitors

Vocaloid:

Good, the second choice isn’t viable because how can there be 4 winners if 0 people played? The last choice is the only possible answer. Out of 13 people playing, 3 won. Perfectly viable.

ananazzaa:

wowwwww

thankyou
