The ratio of cars to trucks is 8 cars to 12 trucks. If there are 3 trucks, how many cars are there?
8 cars =to 12 trucks So the ratio of cards to trucks is 8 cars/12 trucks So for 3 trucks we have some unknown number x cars We set up the ratio like so: 8 cars/12 trucks = x cars/3 trucks Solve for x
Figure out what 8:12 is then basically replace 12 with 3 and 8 with x and you can turn it into a simple equation. I think that's how you do it. I haven't done this math since 6th grade so mb if it's not correct.
So a ratio of 8:3 means for every 8 cars that is 3 trucks so we have the number of trucks which is 21 so what i did to find the answer was see how many times 3 went into 21 which is 7 times then you would take the 7 and times it by 8 and get 56 so there are 56 cars.
