As you know, Phycology is based around brain activity. Of course, everyday experiences and common sense would be an example of what you could go off to come up with a research question. Going off other people's studies is also a good example. Questioning other scientists always help to come up with your own research question. Finally, Observations in the environment are usually man made qualities. Scientists are always asking, "Why?" Looking around the environment for philological effects on organisms is a good example.
