Sweet Treats

Pietro sat in the living room and watched his mother in the kitchen busily baking delicious treats. His mother had taken a couple of days off from work to relax at home. Fortunately for Pietro, his mother's way of relaxing was to make a variety of delicacies. She had already finished baking a batch of tiramisu and cannoli and was now measuring the ingredients to make a pecan pie.
Pietro's mouth watered as the enchanting aroma of the freshly baked goodies wafted around the house. He felt himself almost floating toward the kitchen to grab a couple of the hot cannoli.
"Don't even think about it!" his mother said, looking at him, well aware of what was going on in his mind. Pietro gave a start and slumped back on the couch in disappointment.
Earlier in the morning, his mother had told him that the Boselli family was coming to Florence to visit them. The Bosellis were close relatives of Pietro's family and his mother wanted to make their trip memorable. For this reason, she was making the sweet treats, and no one was to touch them until the guests had arrived in the evening.
After a while, his mother placed the pie in the oven and went upstairs to freshen up. This was his opportunity! Pietro quietly sneaked into the kitchen and looked at the plateful of sweet treats. He reached out to grab one but stopped short when his mother's words echoed in his head.
"Alright, I'll wait!" Pietro said to himself, as he sighed and dragged himself out of the kitchen. He knew that if he could be patient enough, he would be able to enjoy the desserts without his mother giving him an earful.
