Read the following claim and then answer the question that follows: Claim-Public school students should wear uniforms. Which statement best describes the claim? A. The claim is effective. B. The claim is ineffective because it does not state a clear position. C. The claim is ineffective because it expresses a first person preference. D. The claim is ineffective because it suggests the essay will inform rather than argue.

Sherixn:

A. It does not state a clear position

agreeed a

I politely disagree with both of you. I think you may have looked the question up or misread. The answer A states "the claim is effective" which is not what both of you are saying. I think B is wrong because it states the Claim does not state a clear position, which it does by saying "should" which states that they author of the claim thinks Public school students should wear uniforms. I think C is incorrect as well because there is no "I", in the claim leading us to the conclusion that it is not first person. Now D, I believe it is incorrect because given the claim it does not suggest that the essay may inform. It does not lead us to the thought that we will be informed of Uniforms, we should be given an argument of why "Public school students should wear uniforms" With all this said, I think A is correct because it is not in first person, it states a clear position on a topic, and it gives us the impression that it is a argument.

A. Used to read, "It does not state a clear position" I'm not sure why/how this change was made.

Astro:

Ah, I see. Thank you. The user probably edited the question.

Sherixn:

Yes, which is suspicious, I'm not sure why they'd make that change.

Not sure. Thanks again, and you could ask when @y2knic2 gets back online.
