Explain why air cools with elevation.

Sherixn:

It expands and the pressure decreases. Also heat comes from the core of the earth so the farther you get from the ground the cooler it gets.

BakedPotato:

Some of the Sun’s rays are hitting the surface of the Earth, and is absorbed by the earth or reflected into the atmosphere. Some of the heat is radiated into the atmosphere. When the warm air fuses with the existing cold air in the atmosphere, more and more of the warm air fuses with the cold air as the elevation increases (Until the stratosphere we see a difference).
