Benjamin Franklin said, "Be assured, a Woman's Power, as well as Happiness, has no other Foundation but her Husband's Esteem and Love." Based on her epitaph, how would Mrs. McGee from Spoon River Anthology have responded to Franklin's idea? Use evidence from the McGee's epitaphs to support your conclusion
@raja Do you have an idea of what the answer could be? If not that's fine I will still help.
Okay so I assume not, so Mcgee doesn't show much respect for her husband because she thinks he is manipulative. On the other hand, how Benjamin Franklin thinks about marriages is different and he assumes Mrs.Mcgee has a different opinion on it. Benjamin Franklin thinks she appears as if she is a strong and independent woman who doesn't need to be dependent on her husband. Because of this information, she could respond brutally to Benjamin Franklin's point of view, since she already has a strong opinion of her husband. ~Hope this helps!
Thanks, bro.. I however, need almost all the answers to the questions
Use evidence from "The Story of an Hour" and "A Jury of Her Peers" to explain how literature of the time reflected some women's feelings of being trapped and oppressed by their husbands. (20 points)
She would have said... I only have accusations for my husband as he stole my youth, to begin with.Mr Franklin you think my power as a woman is to give love to my husband...a husband who looks down on me, who uses and abuses of his power over my body and mind.He does not give, he takes from me.
