Use the function f(x) to answer the questions: f(x) = 2x^2 − x − 10 Part A: What are the x-intercepts of the graph of f(x)? Show your work. (2 points) Part B: Is the vertex of the graph of f(x) going to be a maximum or a minimum? What are the coordinates of the vertex? Justify your answers and show your work. (3 points) Part C: What are the steps you would use to graph f(x)? Justify that you can use the answers obtained in Part A and Part B to draw the graph. (5 points)
@jhonyy9 can you help?
what grade
8th
sorry im 7th
damn
wasnt asking for your help tho ??
good luck thught
ahh i was trying to help thought
See if I can still remember this.... Do you know what happens when x-intercepts?
Part A) factor using the cross method. Set each factor equal to 0 and solve for x. The x-values are equal to the x-intercepts. Part B) notice the coefficient of x^2. Is is positive (graph opens up, has a minimum) or negative (graph opens downward, has a maximum). Coordinates of the vertex: the x-coordinate is -b/(2a) and to find the y-coordinate, plug that x-coordinate into the function Part C) notice what direction the graph opens in (up or down?) draw the appropriate shape and make sure it crosses the intercept(s) where appropriate
thank you
