I was walking to class and when I sat down at my seat I found a note. I was so curious to find out who wrote it, but it only told me they sat right in front of me, right behind me, or the left or right of me. . there were two guys sitting to the left and right of me. Then there were two girls sitting behind and in front of me. Now to them I may look like a woman, but I don't identify as a woman or man. So it is hard for me to figure out who it was, well until a certain person glanced at me.. He saw me looking at him and smiled. I could feel my face turning red and all of sudden it got extremely hot. It's actually kind of funny, since he's the last person I'd date.

I look to my best friend, Aria, over in the corner of the class, talking with her boyfriend. She looks over at me and I can tell they want me to wait to read the note. All I had read was the confusing part - who it was from.

Class was over and me and Aria walked back to our apartment. We opened the door and went immediately over to the couch to read the note. It said, "I know we only talk for group assignments, but I've grown to like you. You have such good energy, you never laugh at me when I mess up on something wrong. And most of the time you bring me something to snack on. I am so sorry if this is weird but I had to tell you this. I am someone you least expect. And if you read the front side, you would know I sit around you. So you are obviously reading this and I would like to say my name is Benjamin. If you would like, we can talk more tomorrow and maybe go on a date later."

"Oh my god, Liv. You have to go meet up with him after class tomorrow." Aria said.

"Are you kidding me? I am way too nervous to talk to him." I said.

"So? You're beautiful, and smart enough to make it to college. Plus, I was nervous before I got together with my boyfriend."

"I guess you are right, I should at least talk with him."

"Anyway, I can't believe we have to write a twenty-page essay in two months. Are our English teachers trying to kill us?"

"Funny you say that I already got ten pages done."

"What the f--k, how do you already have that much done, you really are smart. I should start on mine - but I can't work on an empty stomach, let's get something to eat."

"Good idea. I'm starving, but first, let me text Ben, just to see if he wants anything." I told her.

"How in the world do you have his number? You said you guys were just friends!" Aria yelled at me.

"Well, I got his number when we were doing that one project. And we are kind of friends we barely speak to each other"

"Hmm. Just hurry up and text him"

When I was texting Ben, he must have seen me typing and asked if I got his letter. And I sent my text saying if he wanted me to pick him up something to eat. And he replied with, "yeah two cheeseburgers please." I told him I will be over shortly. After that, Aria and I went to McDonalds and got some delicious food. After we ate Aria and I walked to Ben's apartment and knocked on his door.

"Oh hey, just got out of the shower." Ben said.

"Hmm we can see that. Here is your food, be lucky Liv got it for you." Aria said

"Yes, of course I am more than grateful she got it for me. Thank you, Liv. That's what you liked to be called, right?"

"Yes, thank you for asking and you are welcome." I said flusteredly.

"Talk to you tomorrow."

"Yeah, talk to you later."

On our way home the breeze brushed past my dress as I walked down the lane and it flew up. I heard someone whistle and say don't push your dress down, let the wind do its job. Aria and I hurried home and locked the door. I was terrified and I didn't see who said it but I never wanted to walk home alone. I was lucky Aria was there with me. I wasn't so lucky the next day. I had to walk to the campus by myself because Aria was throwing up and coughing so she stayed home. I had my phone on me and I wore pants today instead of a dress. I saw two of Ben's friends so I walked up to them and I asked if I could walk our first class together. And of course I had to tell them why. And I regret even walking up to them. They said, "They will drive me to class. And I was happy. Until I realized we were going in the opposite direction of campus. They then told me to do something that I felt disgusted by. They said if I told anyone they would come after me and really hurt me. I nodded and they went back to hurting me.

They drove me to campus and I started walking to class. I was shaking and terrified. I was just happy to sit next to Ben. Right before entering class we talked for a few minutes.

"Hey, you look scared and hurt." Ben said, upset.

"No I am fine, you don't need to get upset."

"Okay, just want to make sure you are okay."

"Thank you and I was wondering if you would, well umm, go on a date with me?"

"YES, I WOULD LOVE TOO!" Ben excitedly yelled.

"We can decide where we want to go when we get out of school."

"Okay, let's head into class."

I was still scared that I was shaking. He saw me and the look on my face. He knew something was up. I think he could see that if I spoke about it out loud someone would hurt me. I was so tired after my classes, I just wanted to sleep. As much as I wanted to go to sleep I messaged Ben and saw if he was ready to go out. He was pumped. I just got out of my last class and I messaged Ben saying I was waiting for him outside the Art 101 building. He told me that he would pick me up and he would be at the building in two minutes. He said that he had something for me, I was extremely curious about what he had. When he said two minutes it felt like thirty seconds. He picked me up in his truck (a 2021 Toyota tundra). Now most people would say the place he took me is him being cheap, but I specifically said somewhere that is not expensive. And he took me to McDonalds, yum. We got a seat at the table and started talking.

"I can't believe this is our first date, I love it." I told him.

"I know this is perfect and you're perfect. I know that was cheesy." Ben said nervously.

"Yeah it was but I know you mean it in a good way."

"Could you please tell me why you were so scared in English today?"

Scribbles on the McDonald's wrapper and I slid it to him.

"My friends, what?" Ben said, confused.

"Did they hurt you, please tell me." He said angrily but not towards me.

I nodded. "They did hurt me but they said if I told anyone they would hurt the person I told and me even more."

"Oh, they did." Ben said rather incriminatingly.

"I know them and they say these things , act all tough but they are both really weak. And if I don't show up to school tomorrow , don't worry about me." Ben told me reassuringly.

"Okay, just don't get hurt, I really like you."

"I like you to Liv and I am not going to let anyone hurt you, ever again."

"Thank you and before you say anything, the reason Aria wasn't with me was because she was extremely sick."

"Okay, let's continue eating then go for a walk."

"Cool" I said more excitedly.

After we ate we went walking around the park. We held hands and rested my head on his shoulder. Later, we went home and he fell asleep in my bed.
