Solve for x and show your steps. Is the solution extraneous? Check your work to show how you determined if the solution is extraneous or not. The square root of the quantity 11 x plus 5 end quantity equals 7.

Astrid1:

You're going to square both sides. \[\sqrt{11x+5}=7\] Subtract 5 from both sides \[11x+5 =7^2=49\] Divide both sides by 11 \[11x=44\] Substitute x=4 into the left side of the equation and if equal to then it is the solution. \[x=4\] \[ \sqrt{11(4+5}=\sqrt{44+5}=\sqrt{49}=7 \] equals right side Now that we've solved it all out, we can conclude that x=4 is the solution and that the solution is not extraneous.

Astrid1:

I believe I am right, but I hope I helped.

Thank you so much!
