trick for perimeter problems like this. notice how, on the left stair shape, all the vertical "steps" have the same total length as the right side on the right shape. same logic for the horizontal sides. therefore, the left and right shape have the same perimeter. |dw:1663897265979:dw| the perimeter of a square is much easier to find. the perimeter of the square is simply the sum of its sides, so 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8. so starting from the first square, it's 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4, then 8. can you try continuing the pattern for figures 3, 4, and 5? using the patterns, try to figure out what the blanks would be for the statement.
