Lost in a Subway

When I was much much younger, maybe like when I was eight or nine like a few years ago, I had a scary experience as a child. This was how I got lost in a subway station. It was the beginning of summer and my parents had planned everything out. We were making our way to Louisiana and to get to our exact destination, we had to go by subway. Here is where the conflict started to form. We were making our way to the subway and my dad said, “Hurry hurry, Get inside!”. So I did as he said. Next thing I know is that I'm the only one who entered. So I started to slam the door with a worried expression calling their names, “Mom, dad!” I start to cry and my eyes start to get swollen and my nose turns as red as a tomato. - 9/23/22

I continue to cry as a coworker starts to approach me. She starts to calm me down patting my back softly- “Hey are you okay, What's your name?” She asks. “Where are your parents, where are your guardians?” I explain stuttering every word. “I-I-I jumped in the subway and the doors closed on my parents and s-sister… ”I explained to her what happened and she tells me that everything will be okay and that she promises she will find them for me. She grabs her radio from her back pocket and reports me as a missing child and tells them my name and describes me. I sit at the back of the train with the coworker as she hugs me tightly and wipes my tears away as people stare at me with sympathy.

I look at the back of the subway amazed at how fast the subway is going until it suddenly stops and the doors open. The coworker lady escorts me out of the subway as others walk out. Through the speaker they call my name- “We are calling for a missing child named Favour Oduah, about 8 years old, black American, I repeat, We are calling for a missing child named Favour Oduah, about 8 years old, black American.”I come out of the subway wondering where my parents must be so I look at my surroundings while holding the lady’s hand tightly and their was just to many people passing by so I clench my fists tighter becoming more anxious every second, that’s when I see my mom in the distance and quickly forget everything I was just feeling.”Hey, hey!” She screams.”Right over here!” I run fast to my mom and jump into her arms and start to cry on her shoulders.“I missed you so much mommy!”I screamed as I hugged her tightly in her arms. “I missed you too baby.” She then tells me that everything will be okay now that we're back together again and kisses me on the forehead. “I love you”.
