So with earth comes oxygen right? Because of trees and land. Plus you have crops and different sources of food. While the ocean mediates the weather determining for example rainfall, droughts, and floods. Plus the ocean brings carbon which regulates the earths temperature. So if there were a wider span of land then the temperature would either drop or become too high, due to lack of carbon.

Well if you think about it. We drink water and eat and then go to the bathroom later. So it's an open system because you consume then dispose of things.
