Read the excerpt. It was utter chaos at the horse farm that morning. Somehow, during the night, all of the enclosure gates had unexpectedly become unhinged. Over thirty horses had gotten out, and they were scattered all over the place. Later, after all the horses were rescued, we heard it was not just our farm, but a rampant event, as several farms in the area had been tampered with during the night. Which dictionary entry supports the meaning of the word rampant as used in the excerpt? ram·pant | \ ˈram-pənt a : rearing upon the hind legs with forelegs extended b : standing on one hind foot with one foreleg raised above the other and the head in profile c : marked by a menacing wildness, extravagance, or absence of restraint d : extremely widespread

Horses were being let loose all over and so that it has been happening all around. So, rampant should not have much to do with some kind of physical activity as mentioned in the first two options. The third option seems decent but nothing exactly wild is occurring. It was clearly organized. This should round it down to one answer.
