Sharecropping Share cropping is a system where African Americans were allowed to use the land of a land owner for agricultural purposes. Before they can do this, they have to agree to share the produce from the land with the owner of the land. This impoverished the blacks more. Land peonage. Land peonage is a situation where an African American has to pay off the debt that they hold by working for the person they owe. It is also known as debt servitude
