The ride Pt1 Other parts are in the comments “Are we there yet?” I asked Lori. “No, but almost,” she says to me with a smile. “Good, I have to use the restroom.” A couple minutes later we pulled up to the hotel. “Alright here we are,” Sammantha says as she puts the car in park. Samantha and Lori have been my two closest friends since about second grade. We are meeting up with Lori’s boyfriend Max, and Samantha's brother Cory. All four of us are going to go to the abandoned carnival in town. It’s almost Halloween. Cory thought it would be fun to go to the Haunted carnival. I’m not so sure it’s haunted though. Even though it is abandoned, it can’t be haunted. The owners must have ran out of money before they finished. We get out of the car and grab our stuff out of the trunk. I look at the hotel, but it's nothing like the pictures showed. The hotel I’m looking at right now is old, and gloomy. Just looking at it makes me have goosebumps all over my arms, and the hair on the back of my neck sticks up. “Paige, are you okay?” Lori asked me. “Huh? Oh, yeah I’m fine. The hotel looks nothing like the pictures,” I reply. “Come on, it’s going to be fine,” Samantha says. I walk up to the hotel and stay at the bottom of the stairs that lead up to the door of the hotel. I step on the first step and it creaks. I walk up the rest of the stairs and open the door. The boys are already waiting for us. I take a moment to look around the hotel room. The lights are dim, and the floor creaks with every step I take.
“Hello ladies and gentleman, how many rooms do you need,” the lady behind the counter says. “Just two,” Cory says. “Okay, here are your room keys and you will pay when you leave,” she said with a smile from behind the counter. We walked to the rooms we were given. “Okay. Boys in one room and girls in the other. Deal?” I say. “Fine by me,” Samantha said in reply. “I guess it’ll have to be,” Max said looking at Lori. “Okay quit it you two,” I say. Cory hands me the key to our room, and I open the door. I look inside and the beds have stains on them, the t.v is broken, and the walls have holes in them. I look back at Samantha and Lori. They have the same face I do. Disgusted. We walk into the room and put our bags down, then we start unpacking. We placed the sleeping arrangements, and I found the restroom that I really needed to use. I look inside it, and suddenly I don’t have to use it anymore. The toilet is stained and the sink is dirty. I gag at the smell. It smells like fish and eggs that have rotted here for months. I walk out of the restroom disgusted. The ride to get here was long and I really needed a nap. We are only staying here for one day, and we go to the carnival tonight, and leave tomorrow morning. “Well you two, I’m going to take a nap before tonight. You guys should get rest too. It was a long ride and we need to save energy for the carnival tonight,” I tell Lori and Samantha. “Good Idea,” they say in unison.
I make the bed that I will be sleeping in, and I lay down on it. It’s not that comfortable, but it will do. I check my phone and there is no service. Crap. I said to myself. There are only two beds. I get one to myself and Samantha and Lori share. They know I can’t stand to be in the same bed with someone else, so they agreed to let me have one to myself. I set the alarm on my phone and I close my eyes and drift to sleep. ✯✯✯ I wake up to my alarm going off. Samantha and Lori are still asleep. I yawn and I sit up on my bed. I turn off my alarm and get up. I brush my hair and walk over to their bed. I gently shake Samantha and whisper to her telling her to wake up. She yawns and opens her eyes. “Come on Samantha, it’s time to get up. It’s carnival time.” She groans and leans over to wake Lori up. They both get up and I do my makeup. I walk to the boys’ room and I knock on their door. Cory opens the door and I see Max in the back sleeping. “Hey Cory, you might want to get Max up, It’s seven o’ clock. We need to get to the carnival,” I say to him. “Okay, I’ll wake him up.” He walks over to Max and shakes him awake. Max gets up and looks around. Cory and Max are talking to each other, but I can’t quite make out what they were talking about. Cory and Max walk out of the door, pushing me to the side. I shake my head and walk to my room. “Is everyone ready?” I ask them. “I think so,” Max replies. “Okay, then let's go to the carnival.”
It’s dark outside and I can’t see where I’m going. I pull out my phone and turn on the flashlight. I'm not sure how far we’ve walked so far, but I’m pretty sure it’s been a good ten minutes. I look up and I see the large ferris wheel. Nothing is lit up, so it’s a little hard to see it. They notice it too, and we start to run toward it. We get to the entrance and the lights turn on. All the rides have lights on them. It’s so colorful with the blue, green, red, and yellow lights. I hold my breath still surprised that the lights automatically turned on. I let out a deep breath and I looked at Lori. She is over by Max. They’re hugging and I look away. Nasty. I said to myself. I’m not very affectionate, but that’s just me. We all walk in together and look around. Music starts to play. Suddenly, I feel as though we are not the only ones out here. I look around and try to see if I can see anyone other than us, but I don’t see anything. I look to where Samantha and Lori were, but they are gone. All of them are gone. My stomach drops and my throat gets warm. “GUYS! WHERE ARE YOU?” I say as loud as I can. No response. Dang it. They’re gone. I tell myself. I hear laughing in the distance and I follow where it is coming from. I feel a gust of cool wind and it makes me shiver. The laughing is getting louder and louder. Finally I see Samantha. She’s pretty easy to see since she is one of the tallest people here. I ran over to her full speed and almost knocked her over. “I'm so sorry Sam. I thought I lost you guys and when I saw you I felt relief. I didn’t mean to run into you so hard.” She laughs and says, “It’s okay, I’m glad you're here. Just in time too! We’re going to ride this.” I look up and see this huge roller coaster. I hate roller coasters, they terrify me. “No thank you. I’ll stay down here,” I tell her. “No, come on Paige. It’s not going to be that bad.” “No. I am not going on that thing. Look how tall it is.” “Paige, it’ll be okay. I’ll sit by you if that helps.” I smile and turn away as I feel my face get hot. I let out a small laugh and say, “Yeah, that’ll work.” “Okay then let’s go!” “Wait, how are we going to get this started?” “No worries, Cory is already on it.” I look up and hear the motor start running. My face goes blank. “Hey, it’s going to be fine. I promise,” Samantha tells me. I smile and we start walking up to the roller coaster. “Glad you made it Paige,” Cory says to me. “I got the roller coaster ready to go, and as soon as I press this button it will start, it won’t go fast at first, but it’ll pick up speed.” “Ha. Ha. Very funny,” I tell him. “No, I’m being serious. It will give me just enough time to get on and enjoy it with you guys,” he says in excitement. I just look at him. He smiles and says, “Alright everyone get on. I’m about to press the button.” I start walking up to the roller coaster. My heart starts racing and it feels like it’s about to beat out of my chest. I get on the rollercoaster and sit by Samantha. “Hey. It’s going to be alright, okay? I’m right here,” she says to me. “Thank you Sam,” I say with a smile. All of a sudden I feel the roller coaster moving forward, and Cory gets on. As the roller coaster starts moving up I can hear the tracks start to crack and pop. My face goes blank and I look straight ahead. My eyes lock on the track as we start going straight up. My breathing starts to pick up.
I feel an arm wrap around me. My heart slows down as I look over to see Samantha looking at me with a smile on her face. The roller coaster suddenly goes gown. I scream in terror, and close my eyes. I heard a snap underneath us, and I knew then, this roller coaster is going to break. We go back up and that's when the roller coaster starts falling. We all scream, then we hit the bottom of the carnival’s ground. I look at Samantha. She isn’t breathing. “Samantha!” I say. “Samantha wake up please!” I shake her, but there is no response. I feel a tear roll down my face. I run to the others, they have cuts all over them. “Guys?” I say. “Please answer me. I need you guys.” Once again no response. They’re gone. I tell myself. I start running, determined to find help. “Help!” I scream. “Someone please help me!” Suddenly there is a loud noise behind me. I turn around, and my face goes blank. A man dressed in black, looking at me with sharp piercing eyes. I slowly back away, but with every step I take, he follows. I turn around and run. I run as fast as I can, when I look back he’s right behind me. I scream.
