Death, the opposite of life, is the state in which something that was alive and breathing is no longer able to think, use any of their senses, move, and their internal organs are shut down. Oxford languages define it as "the permanent ending of vital processes in a cell or tissue." The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as "the irreversible cessation of all vital functions especially as indicated by permanent stoppage of the heart, respiration, and brain activity."
