How does extrinsic and Intrinsic motivation impact how people go about their lives?
Well what is the difference between extrinsic and intrinsic?
So extrinsic is external and intrinsic is internal, as far as I remember, so it's kind of like Nature vs. Nurture. Environment vs. Individual. Healthline says "Intrinsic motivation is when you are motivated by personal satisfaction or enjoyment instead of external factors like reward or punishment," and "Extrinsic motivation is using rewards or other incentives — like praise, fame, or money —as motivation for specific activities. Unlike intrinsic motivation, it is driven by external factors and may be less effective for long-term behavior change." So extrinsic could be like studying hard for an exam with the external reward of getting a good grade. The internal reward could be that getting a good grade could make you feel accomplished and proud.
