Personally I'd try to stick to a specific category (Assuming that the class has a specific subject; ex.: History, World Geography, English, etc.). If the class doesn't have a specific subject, just go for some kind of historical subject that appeals to you, a famous artist, etc. Or even go for your favorite thing, if it's allowed.

You could write about school shootings. It might not be something you have experienced but I heard don't he news just the other day about a 6 year old kid who brought a gun to school shot his teacher and the teacher quickly rushed the kids out of the room or maybe the building but that was after she had been shot. After she woke up from  the hospital all she cared about was the well being of her students.

That and the kid wont be facing any charges but there's a chance his parents might .

Whatever was going on through that kids mind wasn't just something normal. I mean it's a 6 year old. Something must've been happening in his life that had caused him to do this. this is honestly something that needs to be taken very seriously. I mean A FRICKING 6 yEAR OLD.
