Arieonna:

first what is a ineffective hook?

Natalia09:

a hook that fails to grab the reader's attention so that they want to read on.

(Apologies since this is more than two hours late) -Right away we can eliminate Choice D since its vivid imagery helps intrigue the audience and increases their desire to continue reading, thus making it a strong hook. -Choice A uses a quotation from a fellow famous musician who comments on how Elvis greatly impacted the music industry. -Like A & D, Choice C uses specific details about Elvis to help captivate the reader's attention. -Compared to the other answer choices, Choice B would be the least effective. It is very simple, and does not have enough zest to grab the reader's attention. Therefore, the best answer would be Choice B :)
