PICKLEDJORDYN:

In the story "The Giver" why does the apple change when Jonas plays catch with it?

Marlin24k:

Because he sees the apple's red color.

NotLeiland:

He catches a glimpse of the red on the apple. It happens when he sees that girl's red hair as well. This is how they know he is ready to start his lessons as "The Giver".

NotLeiland:

Hopefully this is the answer you were looking for :)

Tyrun:

Wrd

Tyrun:

Good job leiland

Tbone:

It's because the giver is giving him all of the memories and everything that the head people took away, which includes color. Once the receiver has those memories his life changes and that is why the giver only comes to certain meetings and is only called upon during times in need of advice. No body else can see color because they took that away to take racism away but the giver and the receiver will see it, due to knowing how life was before

Berticus420:

Man I remember The Giver from years ago. Basically, no one can see colors except for the Giver, and since Jonas is destined to eventually become the giver, he sees the color red for the first time, so from his point of view he sees the apple's change but to everyone else there's no change.
