Its an educated guess about what you think the outcome is going to be. Without a hypothesis you arent really searching for an outcome. You have reason to do an expirment if you have no guess about whats going to happen. (You have no opion about the question/expirment). But when you do have a guess about how it will go it can be used for after the experiment to see how far off you were or if you were right. Even if you are wrong a hypothesis can be used to see what parts were wrong so you can think about the experiment more in depthly.
