Determine whether each statement below is a valid scientific hypothesis. If it is not a valid hypothesis, give at least one reason. a. A quarter has the same value as 20 pennies.

NotLeiland:

It is not a valid hypothesis because a hypothesis is a guess, not a statement. Therefore it would be "I think a quarter has the same value as 20 pennies".

NotLeiland:

Or it could be even simpler and just because we know the value of a quarter is 25 cents, then we know 20 pennies is not 25 cents

This statement is not a valid scientific hypothesis. a hypothesis is a proposed explanation or prediction for a phenomena, and is formulated based on observation and available evidence. However, the statement given above is a factual statement, rather than a hypothesis. It can be tested by counting the actual value of a quarter and 20 pennies, and checking if they are equal or not. A hypothesis, on the other hand, involves a proposed explanation that is testable through experimentation or observation, and typically involves a cause-and-effect relationship between variables.
