Arieonna:

please help me Based on both his successes and his challenges, do you think John Adams was an effective president? Why or why not?

noluv4me:

mmmmmm no

OLIVER69:

I don't think John Adams was an effective president. He signed the Alien and Sedition Acts, which were laws that raised the residency requirements for citizenship from 5 to 14 years, authorized the president to deport "aliens," and permitted their arrest, imprisonment, and deportation during wartime, and he built up the Army and Navy in the undeclared naval war (called the "Quasi-War") with France.
